Praying In The Streets

Praying In The Streets

“During the days of Jesus’ life on earth, he offered up prayers and petitions with fervent cries and tears to the one who could save him from death, and he was heard because of his reverent submission.” Hebrews 5:7

Prayer is an important component in our lives and in our ministries. Praying for ourselves and those we are close to is easy. However, praying for the needs of others in our community can sometimes be forgotten. Ministering here in the San Francisco bay area, I see the extreme need on people’s faces everyday. For this reason, Cityteam Oakland and SF have teams who prayer walk weekly.

In the streets we find the addicted. In the streets we encounter lives in desperate need of Christ. So we walk and we pray. At times, we walk silently, simply praying for the needs of the community, businesses, homeless, and tourists. Other times, we’ll walk up to people and ask them how we can pray for them. We always ask God to open our eyes to see the needs around us and who needs Him today.

Can you pray for your community today? Will you pray to discover those in need of God? God answers prayers. Pray for those answers and remember to pray in and for your community.
